Kia Orana tatou katoatoa. Welcome to my Manaiakalani Class OnAir episodes for 2023. This will be my 3rd year as a part of the Manaiakalani Class OnAir crew. This is my 6th year teaching at Pt England school in a digital 1-1 classroom, however I took a break in 2019-2020 to go and teach in Rarotonga, so is my 7th year teaching.
This year I have an awesome group of year 7/8 and we are part of a Year 7 & 8 team consisting of five classrooms. My learners are pretty confident with their devices as this will be the fifth year they have been using their Chromebooks as learning devices.

Term 1: "New Zealand History"
This term our focus is New Zealand histories and how we came to be a nation.
Term 2: "Changes Matter"
This term our focus is on identifying solids, liquids and gases and the changes that each of these materials can have. Our teams focus question for the term is how do changes to materials occur and why?
Term 3: "Fit for Purpose"
This term our focus is on being active, healthy eating, sports and a positive mindset. Our teams focus questions for this term is how can I think, act and be positive?
Term 4: "Make it Work"
This term our focus is on using the design thinking process to create something usable around our school. Our teams focus question for this term is what can we design and create to improve our school?
