Direct Instruction
Learning Intention - Understand how to write a paragraph in an information report.
What is an information report?
What is a fact/opinion?
In this lesson I spent 5-10 minutes explaining the task and then learners split into small groups
Sometimes I will get students to read their pieces of writing in small groups or the class.
Reflection
This was a great lesson, however, there were quite a few things that I need to work on with my learners. Firstly, my learners were quick to search things on google rather than referring back to their notes, I will do a lesson around how to use the notes we have taken into sentences. Secondly, I found there were 2 or 3 students mainly taking over in each groups, this didn’t give the other learners a chance to participate as much. Next time, I could either give each student a sentence to write, which I don’t really like because that will take away the conversations they were having, or give each student a job in each group.
Things to note
Unfortunately my other camera had some technical issues and I was unable to use it for this episode. Don't worry viewers, it'll be good to go for my next episode! Stay tuned!
