Mālō e lelei, kia orāna and nau mai, haere mai to my 2023 Manaiakalani Class OnAir episodes! I am a fourth year teacher working by the sea at New Brighton Catholic School - Mary Immaculate in Christchurch, New Zealand. I have always taught in a digital 1:1 learning environment.

This year, I have a terrific team of year 2 ākonga. The students will be using ipads throughout the year as we learn, create and share together.

My lessons will include whole-class, peer to peer and small group learning. The small group interactions are often designed to cater to the needs of individual learners. I’m looking forward to sharing Room 5 with you this year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me with the details below!

Term 1: Material World

How can we be good kaitiaki of creation?

Term 2: People respond to the world through art.

Where can we see art in our world? What effects can the world have on art?

Term 3: : People respond through their customs, traditions and values.

How are cultures of people in New Zealand expressed  in their daily lives? How do people sustain and pass on their culture and heritage?

Term 4: People respond by respecting the relationships with themselves and others.

How can people's attitudes and values shape our social/cultural environment? How can we respect the needs of ourselves and others? How can we contribute to healthy communities?
