Direct Instruction

Learning Intention -  Subtract 2 digit number over the 10.

Students will do a small subtraction warm up to start this lesson.

Students will then do a short recap on the previous lesson. 43 - 21 =.

The follow up activity was learners explaining the way they solved these in a video.

Reflection

This lesson was great and it showed you how as teachers we have to adapt on the spot in lessons.  I was hoping to spend most of my time teaching my learners how to subtract numbers over the 10, however, as you see my learners struggled with solving the strategy from the previous lesson so we spent a bit of time on the problem 43 - 21 =, that was the problem I decided to go over on the whiteboard.  At the end of the lesson I introduced the next strategy to my learners and they were quick to understand it which was great, as their blog post I wanted them to make a video of them explaining their learning.

Things to note

In this lesson, I wanted to set my 2nd camera up for the audio, so was a bit annoying that a majority of the lesson was just of the one angle.
