Direct Instruction
Learning Intention - Understand character perspective during different parts of the text.
Students read the text 'Fangs, No Fangs', we answered comprehension questions. We then looked at understanding our character, putting ourselves 'in their shoes'.
I get students to read the text before they see me and will get them to read chunks aloud with their group as well.
Reflection
This was a fun lesson to teach, I had a lot of student engagement, they really enjoyed doing the hot seating at the end. My learners understood what was expected of them and enjoyed doing the vlog as the follow up activity, as they were able to get back into character. Towards the end I tried making the learners lead the discussion and tried to be more of a faciliator, however, I found that the kids got off track and I needed to support with showing them with getting back on track with questions they're asking.
Things to note
This was a fun lesson, have a look at the Activities my learners did, their Vlogs are great!
