Reflection
I think that this lesson went pretty well. The students were engaged with the camp content and were able to make some great connections between their own camp experiences and those of the people in the article that we read for the week. The students were excited to share their own experiences and really think about how others were feeling about camping in the texts that we read this week. With camp being so fresh in their minds this was an easy first introduction to how we can make connections with our own experiences and people that we are reading about. I really liked how I was able to find a journal article at this group's level that was about a student's experience at camp as the students were able to make clear connections and find the differences between the two camps. This again was a very teacher led lesson as we are still establishing our class norms and what reading time looks like. I do also have some students who are new to our school as well as new to chromebooks which is why the explaining part of the lesson is a lot longer than I normally would like.
Things to note
I did have to move my teaching table for this lesson as there was too much sunlight coming through the windows in the classroom which is why it looks like it just appeared in the middle of the classroom. We are still getting used to the microphone in the class so there are some parts of this lesson when the microphone is moved and the sound dips a little bit. I currently have a student teacher in the classroom which is why there is an extra person moving around in some of the shots and shows her observing during the lesson. While watching this lesson back I realised that my chair might have been a little bit too low which I will need to check for next time as I do disappear from some of the shots behind one of the student's.
