The learning intention for this lesson was to make connections between texts, using more sophisticated texts.
This video showcases a reading lesson with a small group where we engaged in several activities. We read and analysed two texts, discussed their narrative elements, and explored the connections between them. The lesson concluded with an introduction to Google Vids and a collaborative book review project where students worked in pairs using this tool.
Reflection
The lesson sequence worked well, leading to great student discussions. Reading both short texts in one session was beneficial, enabling the students to make clear connections between them. Introducing Google Vids was a lot of fun, and the students were really into it. Their book review videos with it turned out really well and I was impressed with their engagement and work.
Things to note
Upon reflection, if I were to teach this lesson again, I would prioritise a more thorough introduction to Google Vids, perhaps in advance. The current lesson contained a significant amount of information, and a separate session on the tool might have been more effective.
