Record high-quality audio using wireless microphones

This video shows a lesson focused on teaching children how to record quality audio using wireless microphones. The lesson was developed in response to noticing that the quality of students' audio recordings was letting down their Create tasks. It shows us exploring the signal path, from the microphone to the laptop, before discussing and addressing some of the common mistakes students make when recording audio. Reflection

The lesson went well, with all children able to produce recordings of reasonable quality. It is important to recognise that recording quality audio is a skill that develops with practice. Initially, understanding the equipment and following the signal path can feel challenging, but as students become more familiar with the process, they develop the confidence to identify and troubleshoot problems themselves. One key thing I would emphasise is the importance of making a test recording before starting the actual task. This gives students an opportunity to check that the signal path is working correctly and that the audio is clear. Developing this habit will help prevent common recording issues and improve the overall quality of students' Create tasks.
