The learning intention for this lesson was to create a diagram to clearly explain information in our writing report.
This video showcases a writing lesson with a small group of students where we engaged in several different activities using google docs, google drawings and GoogleMyMaps.
Reflection
I think that the lesson went well. The students were really engaged in the lesson and enjoyed using a new tool. I liked that they were able to use these completed google drawings in their information reports, it added another element that linked well into our reading task as well.
Part way through the lesson one of the students realised that they could create custom icons for their map - it was good for me to learn about some of these elements alongside the students, and it is always interesting to see new changes that have been developed.
Next Steps
Next steps for the students are to put this into their completed information reports. If I have time, I would also like to teach them more about other ways we can create diagrams using google drawings such as using shape tools.
