The learning intention for this lesson was to;

Understand how groups of people have been treated unfairly over time.

Reflection

I think the lesson went well, the students were engaged and seemed to really enjoy creating their new symbols. I think that I didn't need to teach about the mascots, medals and torches all in one lesson. It would have been better to delve into one of these areas in more depth. This would have allowed for better discussions as I felt rushed moving between the different symbols.

Next Steps

If I were to teach this lesson again, I think I would spend more time analysing how the symbols have changed over time, and the relationship they have to their host country.
