Reflection
I think that this lesson went really well, the students were really engaged and loved being able to come up with their own ideas for our class film festival movie. It was really great to see how excited and creative the students were with their ideas. Another really cool thing that I noticed was that the students made sure that everyone was included in the discussions. If someone wasn't part of a group everyone in the class would make sure they felt included and would ask them to join in some of the already established groups. This is the first time I have turned this into a lesson for the whole class and I am so glad that I did as the students came up with some really interesting and creative ideas. Some groups were so excited that they even started to write a script for the movie that they would like to see. One thing I would do differently next time is allow the rest of the class to ask the groups questions about their movie ideas during the share part of the session as it would have been interesting to hear these ideas as a whole class. I did have students come and speak to me about how they could adapt some of the ideas shared after the lesson and this would have been so good to have in a whole class setting.
Things to note
This lesson was filmed over multiple days as the students needed the chance to write their plan in detail before sharing. I have just added in the key teaching parts and sharing parts of this lesson. This was a whole week writing lesson for the class which was really beneficial as the students had the chance to reflect and add extra details to their lesson. We are also still experimenting with using the microphone while the students are talking which is why it can be loud and then quiet in some parts. I also forgot to move the microphone to the students while we were sitting on the mat so I have unfortunately had to edit out some of those conversations.
I have only added a snippet of the students presenting and sharing their ideas with the class. For the full version check out the students' blog posts where the full video has been shared.
