Direct Instruction
The learning intention for this lesson was for students to understand what it is to be an ambassador at Pt England school and to decide if this is something that they would like to apply for next year.
This lesson shows our current year 6 ambassadors talking to the class about what it is to be an ambassador. This lesson shows how the students can apply to be an ambassador with a focus on learn, create and share. Finally this lesson shows students working in groups sharing and discussing ideas for their applications.
Reflection
I think that this lesson went really well. It was really great to hear our current ambassadors explain what it is to be an ambassador and for the students to be able to see them sharing what it is that they do. It was really awesome to see my students from last year and how much they have grown as year 6's and our current school ambassadors. I think it was really helpful to have these students share with my class so they have a better understanding of what an ambassador is and it gave them a chance to see if that is something that they would like to pursue for next year. It was also a really great reflection lesson for the students to be able to look back at the year and what they have completed for learn, create and share. I really enjoyed this lesson and am looking forward to seeing these students step up for interviews next term.
Things to note
We have a lot going on in and around the school at the moment with cross country training and Manaiakalani film festival filming so our space is a little bit more restless than usual. There is also a lot more background noise than normal with other classes out and about around the school. With it being closer to the end of the term I decided to take my class to one of our empty classrooms that are used for meetings so that the students were able to ask questions as well as being less disrupted with the other classes and what is going on around the school. Some of the camera angles are a bit off as I wasn't really sure how to best use this space for filming.

Ambassador Applications
WALT: understand what it is to be an ambassador and create an application to be an ambassador for 2024.
Instructions
This week we are going to be putting in an application to be an ambassador for 2024! Each year 6 year 6 students are selected as ambassadors to represent our school when visitors come through Pt England School. The first part of the application process is to share why you think you would make a great ambassador and show some of your learning from this year!
Check out Toby Samuels ambassador video from a few years ago.
Listen to our current ambassadors and hear what it is to be an ambassador, this will give you an opportunity to ask questions as well.
Check out some of our previous ambassador applications to get some inspiration.
Create a script for why you would like to be an ambassador.
Record yourself presenting your script and add this to your presentation.
Complete the presentation showing some of your learn, create and share learning from this year.
Post this on your blog.
