Direct Instruction

The learning intention for this lesson is understand, and use location words.

The video shows a range of activities that tamariki engaged in to learn tūwāhi kupu. Throughout this kaupapa, tamariki used rākau, pea, waiata, and mahi ā-ringa.

Reflection

What an awesome kaupapa to teach. I really liked how hands on these lessons were made. Tamariki showed more and more skill as the week unfolded and many were able to use their new kupu Māori to support others.

When running the activities, a larger space is needed. It does get rather noisey and cramped in a small space.

Things to note

The activities you see in this video were recorded over the period of a week.
