Direct Instruction
In this episode you will tamariki engaging in a three part lesson. First, tamariki will recap adjectives and walk through a guided lesson.
Next, tamariki work in small groups to gather adjectives to describe silly sea creatures.
Finally, tamariki craft a description about a soft toy using our Silly Senses Adjectives structure. We then enter their description into Firefly to see what the A.I generates.
Reflection
This was a very long lesson. Breaking it into three parts with three very different activities kept tamariki engaged in the learning.
Tamariki absolutely loved seeing their descriptions come to life and were able to identify what they needed to add to create a more accurate description. .
I am very glad that I check if tamariki could enter their own descriptions into Firefly prior to the lesson as we were not able to access the website from our iPads.
Things to note
This lesson went took place in our first block of the day. It is our largest block which is 1hr 40min long.
