Direct Instruction
In this lesson children are learning to draw and label diagrams as a way of sharing information. They are also learning to find evidence in the texts to help them identify the author's purpose for writing. In this lesson you will see a reading group exploring a poem, discuss their knowledge of a topic and creating physical objects and digital art as they develop their understanding of the water cycle.
Reflection
This lesson had a lot of parts sadly many of which were not captured well in the video above. What I do love about this video is it shows how simple things like drawing on a plastic bag can have a big impact on the understanding children gain about a new topic. I also liked the collaboration that occurred and the positive way that children shared back talking about their blog posts.
Things to note
We had a log of camera and tripod issues in the filming of this lesson which led to limited footage. The children sharing back was recordered later with the hope that it would fill in any gaps and help you understand the full proccess.
