Reflection
Every literacy block in my class at the moment I feel a building positivity and excitement for books. What really made this lesson for me was the way in which the children engaged in the shared discussion about feelings and began to relate this to their own lives. I loved seeing my groups faces when I told them they could choose from the home reading challenge activities to practice.
Home reading challenge this has been a huge positive in our class and team since we launched it. Hearing Niah and Jilliane share why they love reading and being so passionate about the stories they had just engaged in was motivating for all in the class. After just two weeks we have already put 14 books on our wall to show what we have read.
In the future I would like to focus on building more discussion that is lead by the children both in my guided reading groups and about the books they are reading at home.
Things to note
Due to a slow roll out this is the first week that children are using Chromebooks in the classroom. It has been great but also means that things take us longer as we embed the CyberSmart practices and learn about these new devices.
I apologies for some of the camera angles in the guided reading group.
