Direct Instruction
The learning intention for this lesson was to share learning using iMovie.
The video shows students grappling with iMovie and learning new techniques to share their learning.
Reflection
This was a really challenging project with Year 3 and 4 students. The students are only just beginning to learn how digital content is stored so getting them to create a whole movie of pre-stored content was difficult. It required a lot of scaffolding, working 1:1 with students and differentiating. Class teachers supported this project a lot with the videoing of footage, getting students to draw pictures in photopea, and recording voice overs which could be used in the movie.
Things to note
iMovie is probably more suitable to teach in this way for students in Year 5 and above. Move time needed to be spent on explictly teaching students where digital content is stored and how it can be retrieved.
