Direct Instruction
The learning intentions for this lesson were to think from a range of viewpoints and to write ideas clearly and succinctly.
The video shows a short introduction to the topic and task, followed by discussions between students as they brainstorm on a Jamboard.
Reflection
I find it interesting to reflect on the quality of conversation happening when students work in groups in situations like this. There is often so much that is missed, and it is very insightful to listen in on the conversations through the lens of the camera! After watching the conversations in this learning experience, I feel that a great follow up lesson would be on teaching some speaking prompts that students can use to increase the quality of their conversations. Teaching some follow up questions to learn to build on each other's ideas would be particularly useful. You may see some examples of where this is quite limited in the conversations in this learning experience!
Things to note
One of the cameras stopped filming part way through, which is why I have limited camera shots in this video. I still think I captured some valuable conversations between students.
