Reflection
I think that this lesson went really well. This is a topic that my class loves to talk about and explore. Many of these students have been using scratch and coding programs since they started school so it was really enjoyable to have these rich discussions as a whole class and then filter down into their reading texts for the week. This topic really hooked my students in and I got a lot of buy in from the students so it made it a really enjoyable lesson and topic to teach. I really liked how we started looking at coding on a surface level and then were able to break it down even further and have rich critical discussions throughout the week. Another really great thing about this lesson was how many of my students completed this learning and shared in on their blogs with task descriptions that shared how much they enjoyed the lesson and what they had learnt. Overall this was a really successful lesson and topic.
Things to note
The camera I had set up at the back of the classroom must have been knocked slightly after it was set up as it is on a really weird angle of the classroom. I still used it and have just cut it so there is not so much empty and blank space around. For the student discussions I just used the camera as a hand held and the footage was a bit shaky so will make sure to use it on the tripod next time. This lesson was filmed while we were in the orange setting of the covid framework so masks are optional for the students and teachers.
