Parrant Four: Poppy Art.mov

Direct Instruction

The learning intention for this lesson was to research the ANZAC poppy and share this learning in my own words and create a piece of artwork.

The video shows an ANZAC Poppy Art Lesson. The beginning of the lesson shows the introduction to ANCAZ poppies and why they are a symbol of ANCAC day. This lesson also shows a discussion around the key things we have learnt along with a little bit of art shown at the end of the lesson.

Reflection

I think that this lesson went really well, the students were really engaged with the content and were excited to share what we had been learning the previous week. The students had understood and remembered a lot of our learning from the week before which they were able to use in our discussions this week. I really liked how the students have embraced our research components each week and are starting to go beyond what materials they are given and finding other key information through their own research. The students are getting more confident with sharing their thoughts and ideas on camera and I managed to obtain a lot of footage showing these rich discussions that we have been having in class.

Things to note

I unfortunately lost the footage from the other camera in the shots due to the camera battery giving out throughout the lesson, this is why there is only one shot during the discussions which is a bit annoying. I wanted to keep these discussions in the lesson which is why you wont see the students faces as they share their ideas but I thought they were important to the lesson so have kept them in. We were also filming during the red traffic light of the alert system which is why we are all wearing masks and the desks are socially distanced between the students.
