Reflection
I think that this lesson went really well the students love reading plays and having a role to read in, I find that this also keep the students engaged and wanting to follow along with the text so that they are not missing their lines along with figuring out what is going on in the text. This group is really good at sharing out the roles of characters and are able to sort this themselves with not a lot of guidance which is really good. I did find that this group did need a lot of prompting when trying to find the main ideas of the stories which required a lot of teacher talking to try and get all of those ideas and and discussed. Using the whiteboard at the beginning of the lesson was really helpful to highlight the key words from the text and also show the students the learning intention, this also allowed me to refer back to this during the lesson.
Things to note
This was filmed during alert level orange where mask wearing was optional which is why some of the students are wearing masks and some of the were not. There was a lot of background noise in this lesson as there were classes outside preparing for cross country completing their training and other classes were out filming for film festival so there was a lot going on around the school. These distractions outside did alter my class and their noise level in the background which is why some parts of the lesson are a big jumpy. I also had to resort to filming on the ground with this group as it is a large group and the sun was shining in the wrong direction for the filming at my teacher table this new way of reading with this group seemed to also have an impact on focus for the duration of the lesson.
