Direct Instruction: Decimal Challenge
Students are using an adapted enrich task to build understanding of decimals.
This video shows a lesson on decimals, after we have done similar lessons on fractions. This lesson is structured to help students identify decimals to three decimal places.
Reflection: I was really pleased with this lesson. Although I forgot to check sharing was on for the jamboard. I was surprised at how fast students grasped what we we talking about and their ability to apply their knowledge and explain how to add decimals and work out what was not shaded. I would like to take to the next step and add thousandths on.
Things to note: Slides go up to hundredths, to create a table to go to thousandths would be tricky without changing the original size of 'one'. We had a BBQ breakfast for students and I forgot to take off my apron. As we all know interuption happen and today we had a guest appearance of our acting Principal.
