Direct Instruction: Reciprocal Reading
We are checking students understanding of the reciprocal reading process and our focus in this lesson in predicting and clarifying.
This video shows two steps in the process of reciprocal reading. The students are trying to take over the lead roles in this process so they are directing conversation and building understanding.
Reflection: I would like to have students taking more initiative to help drive the discussion about the learning. It was great to hear students reading aloud fluently. I can see I need to give more opportunities for students to run the reciprocal reading process.
Things to note: You will see me offering help to students so they can direct conversation in their lead roles. We also have lots of students isolating, so the groups is smaller than usual. Student who was to lead clarifying had to leave, so I stepped in to model.
