Direct Instruction
The lesson focus today was to understand how the character is feeling leading up to different situations in the text.
Learners summarised the text, we had discussions around different parts of the text. We then Hot Seated the main character - Nia.
Have a watch to find out how we got on!
Reflection
This lesson was great, we were able to have some really serious chats about different topics and we also had a whole lot of fun and there was a lot of laughter. I thought that my learners were able to share some really awesome ideas and we had some great discussions around charisma, elections, public speaking and more. My learners are getting better at thinking of questions when hot seating, I don't need to be asking questions all the time anymore. They are really engaged in this convention and have a lot of fun when staying in character.
Things to note
The noise level in the background was really noisy for this episode, we then had some learners watching PENN (Pt England News Network) next door which was loud. I always like adding background music to my movies, however it is really quiet in this episode because the volume of speakers were so quiet, I need to have a play around with the settings on my mic.
