Direct Instruction

The lesson focus today was to form an opinion based on prior knowledge.

Learners had discussions around children having phones and social media.

Everyone knows that every child wants their own mobile phone, however, deciding on when children get their first phone is a very controversial topic. Listen in to what our learners thought about the topic.

Reflection

Great discussion by my learners, they were very knowledgeable around this topic and it was really interesting to hear all of there awesome ideas! I need to continue working on talking about the author and why they do specific things in the text, how this adds effect and why they do it. I really enjoyed teaching this lesson, I think these learners would do a great job doing drama in reading, something I will try in my next lesson.

Things to note

I did this lesson in a break out room so there was minimal background noise. I was really impressed with the honest opinions I had from my learners, they did a fantastic job of justifying their opinions.
