Direct Instruction:
The learning intentions for this video are: to look at a task and tell others the order of steps they need to follow (create instructions), give the instructions to others. and see and fix the mistakes in instructions when others follow them.
During this lesson, students will work together in small collaborative groups to create a maze made out of Lego. Students will later write a correct list of instructions for their Lego person to follow to move through the maze. This is not seen in the video, but final products can be seen on student blogs below.
Reflection: This lesson was a fun way for us to end the term. Students were working in mixed ability groups, which provided a great environment for them to work on their learning conversation skills. It was fun to watch them work together to create a maze they were proud of and to hear many of the conversations explaining why they thought the maze should or should not move a certain way.
