Direct Instruction:
The learning intentions for this video are: learning to recognise and name various emotions and linking an emotion to the main character from their free choice novel.
During this lesson, we will be discussing the emotions that we have been learning about in our Inquiry study (see episode 14) and how they relate to the characters in our free choice novels.
Reflection: I really enjoy ending the year with a novel study as I find that it pumps the students up when they realise that they can read an entire "big kid chapter book." When thinking about how I could make connections between our Inquiry lessons (see episode 14) and all the completely different novels the students were reading, I realised that they could complete a very similar task using the main character of their story and infer what they were thinking while they were feeling a certain way in the story. I really enjoyed this task and I think it is one that I will have students do often in the future as we incorporate our wellness (Mitey) programme into our everyday curriculum.
