Direct Instruction:
The learning intentions for this video are: gaining an understanding of the 5 senses and thinking about our senses when planning for a recount.
During this lesson, you will see the students reviewing what they know about writing a recount before we discuss what are 5 senses are and how we can use our senses when describing an event in our writing.
Reflection: This lesson was a fun way to discuss adding more descriptive language into our writing. Students really enjoyed discussing with their peers before starting the topic and I was really pleased to see how well the group of girls did in the video. It was great to see many students apply their senses to their recount writing for our end of the year assessment a few weeks later.

Instructions
As a class, we will review the elements of a recount before discussing the five senses and listening to a story about the Five Senses. Then, we will have some fun with a few "virtual" experiences that will apply our senses in order to come up with some good descriptive words and phrases.
