Reflection

This reading lesson sparked great questioning and some synthesising reading strategies. The children were thinking while reading, picking up new information, and came up with new ideas and thinking around Martin Luther King. The children had already been exposed to all the other global citizens on the reading site, so they were aware of how important his actions who are going to be to the world. Looking over my teaching of this text, I could see some children who are more engaged than others. I let some children speak over children and when teaching this workshop of children again I will be mindful of where the children are sitting and how the children can all speak, instead of one or two. Having the JAM board to support breaking down some of the more difficult vocabulary was a great tool to ensure the children understood what they are reading.
