The learning intention for this lesson is focus on measuring the length of something using a measuring tape (standard unit of measurement).

Ko ngā mea ka kitea ki te kiriata nei ka ako ngā tamariki ki te whakamahi taura ine. Ka ako hoki rātou he aha te mitarau, me te mita, me pēwhea hoki te pānui i te tauira ine. Ka tuku i a rātou ki te whakaine i ngā mea e 3 ki te akomanga. Kei te whakamahi hoki rātou i ngā pukenga whakatau tata ki te akoranga nei.

This video shows the tamariki learning to use and read a measuring tape, as well as what a centimetre is, what a metre is. They need to measure 3 different things in the classroom with their measuring tape. Their estimation skills are also used in this lesson.
