Class OnAir Making Connections.mov

Direct Instruction

The learning intention for this lesson was for the students to work on making connections between what they already know about myths and legends and link this to the current text.

The video shows class instruction as well as students completing the task and having discussions. This lesson also incorporated some group norms around our guided reading sessions due to being in and out of alert levels in the previous weeks.

Reflection

I thought that this lesson went pretty well. Due to lockdowns in Auckland we haven't had too many opportunities since the beginning of the year to have guided reading sessions in our reading groups so I think the students did a really good job. They were really engaged with the text and were trying to make connections during our lesson. This was the first time that some of these students had been involved in a Class OnAir episode so some of them were a bit shy to share their ideas with the cameras around.

Things to note

I had a few technical difficulties with this lesson and my other camera angles were not really that great which it why there is only the one view in this lesson. I am also getting used to using the microphone reorder so the sound in some parts is a little bit quieter than I would have liked.
