Direct Instruction:
This is a reading lesson with students instructionally reading at Turquoise (Levels 17/18). In this lesson, students will be reading a procedural recount in a small group reading session. Students will then follow the instructions in the story to create their own musical instrument and try to play a song of their choice.
Reflection: This was a fun lesson to do with this group. The girls are very outgoing and enjoy singing and dancing so I knew that they would not shy away from singing along to the songs they created. It was also a great use of measurement, which has been our maths strand focus this term as well.
Things to note: The students in this group all participate in our school's Quick 60 reading program at various times during the week. This is why you will notice that we loose a student part way through our reading session when watching the video.
