Level 3.2 School: Minecraft Empathy Village
Video One: Our Lesson
Video Two: Our Village
Direct Instruction:
This lesson was filmed at Level 3.2 in Auckland. Across the two classroom space there were 18 children back at school. As learners were year 4 all children and teachers were required to wear masks and socially distance.
This lesson is designed to reconnect student to each other and learning at school. Being apart has been hard and now that we are back at school we are socially distanced. This has been a challenge for the learners. Interacting in our shared Minecraft worlds has allowed to learners to collaborate during this time.
We are learning to value others experiences and opinions.
We are learning to be kind, compassionate and respectful of others and their views.

Reflection: The lesson started out a little rocky. The learner were super keen to explore but lost focus on the task at hand. I drew them back in and within 10minutes they were confidently adding boards and writing about themselves.
Things to note: Due to working across two spaces I positioned myself in the door way. The camera faced me which is why you could not see the learners in most the this episode. There are shots of the learners working.
Please also note that there is some background noise due to other classes practicing dances outside our room.
I want to give a huge thank you to my co-teacher Hannah West who has been supporting me with launching Minecraft for education during this time.
