Distance Learning: Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori

Maori Language week .mp4

Direct Instruction:

This lesson provides an overview of the Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) site I created collaboratively with my team. The aim of this site was to be a multimodal leader of reading learning during Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori and provide a resource that we can use in the future to support Māori Language week and important week in New Zealand.

Lesson Plan

Reflection: This site was great fun to create as there are so many great resources out there for Māori Language. While I and I know other teacher in my team found at time it challenging to let go of the structure that we were use to for distance learning the site provided a well needed change of the learner. It gave them choice which some learners and loved and risen to well others have struggled with this push to be independent and direct their own learning. I felt that this use of the decodable text for our learners reading at curriculum level 1 provide a welcome easing of decoding challenge for the week while still providing some Māori words to inspire and connect learners with one of our national languages.
