Episode 11 - Ngā Pūnaha o te Ao (Part 2).mp4

Direct Instruction /  Te Akoranga

This is a two-part lesson. This is part two.

The learning intentions for this lesson was for the students to learn about the 4 spheres of the Earth and what they consist of.

Ko te tino whainga o te akoranga nei ko te ako mō ngā pūnaha e wha o te Ao, he aha hoki ngā ahuatanga o ia mea.

This video shows me presenting my students with different pictures and they must decided which sphere they fall into.

E whakaatu ana tēnei kiriata i ahau e whakaatu ana i ētahi pikitia ki ngā akonga, ko tā rātou he tohua i ngā pikitia ki te pūnaha e tika ana.

Reflection / Arotake

Even though this was such a basic kind of visual activity, I found that it really helped. The kids refer back to the pictures all the time and its been usually in other discussions we've had.

Things to note

I teach whole-class a lot of the time so using different management strategies is something I'm always looking for, I do find the change in volume always helps when kids are overly excited (my kids are always overly excited when there's an opportunity to be competitive).
