Kids Make Movies.mov

Direct Instruction

This lesson shows me having returned from an absence of more than two weeks, and trying to create in a day, with the students' help, our entry for the Manaiakalani Film Festival for 2020.

As I had limited mobility at this time, I was unable to walk around filming with a camera and tripod, so the students were asked to turn their writing stories into little movies within Explain Everything on their iPads.

Extended Lesson Plan

Reflection

This lesson was a lot of fun for both myself and my students. It was very rushed however and there were many things that I would have fine tuned if I'd had more time up my sleeve. The cropping of their images and background recorded noises being two obvious ones! Given the time frame involved, I am however very pleased with the end result and feel that it is a great reflection of the children's own abilities and creativity.

Note

The children had only one day to turn their stories from their Writing books into mini movies! I searched for and included the background images to help bring their scenes to life.
