Direct Instruction
In this lesson you will see the discussion we had about making superheroes and villain. You will also see the children creating digital art that would later become an animation. The learning intentions for this lesson were: We are learning to create detailed characters and backgrounds. We are learning to tell a story with a superhero and villain.
Reflection
This lesson was so much fun. You can just see from the the amount of talk and sharing that the children were eager and excited and they maintain that enthusiasm throughout the the process of creating their images, writing their stories and animating. It is incredible what these children can do when given the opportunity to be creative and use technology they now know well. I liked that this lesson incorporated digital art/design but also time for planning for writing in a meaningful way. Perhaps most of all I love that the children involved me in their stories and fun and I was never the same Villain twice.
Things to notes:
This lesson was filmed during Covid Alert Level 2. For this reason desks are separated and you will not see all children who are speaking in shot. There is also very little student to student talk due to the nature of the classroom set up.
