Direct Instruction
The learning intention for this lesson was to write with our audience in mind.
Our Year 6 camp is one of the highlights of the year. It something that all students at Pt England look forward to as they approach Year 6, and then what they often reflect on as a highlight as they grow older. For that reason we try to make the writing task for this enjoyable, interesting, and full of detail.
For this task I asked the kids to think of "Top tips" for future campers, so that they could provide advice to the next generation of campers.
Reflection
This lesson was really really cool. The students loved it! If I repeat this lesson next year, one thing that I will add would be a list of categories or alike. I noticed that in the students writing the same 7-8 topics kept coming up. This is fine, but if they had been given a few more categories to consider perhaps this would have sparked more creative "tips".
