Direct Instruction
The learning intentions for this lesson was, we are learning to find information in a text and we are learning to make connections between the text and our own experiences.
In this lesson learners are engaged to find out about extreme sports and choose two the interest them to create digital posters about.
Reflection
This was an interesting topic and the children enjoyed it. They found finding facts and ideas particularly challenging. I notice watching it back how stiff the lesson felt in the place and I believe this is due to the children putting their hands up which they don't normally do in small groups like this. I also noticed the very question answer nature of the conversation which I am working to change as I know this limits learners talk which is such a valuable part of these small learning groups. It was good bring the learners together to share where they were at and they found the ideas from others useful in the creation of their posters.
