Direct Instruction
The learning intentions for this lesson are we are learning to write instructions that encourage someone to make play-dough. We are learning to work with others to develop a plan for writing.
This is the second day of a week long learning experience. In this lesson we discuss ingredients, method and using questions and description to hook in our reader.
This video shows the learners making play-dough. This experience happened the day before writing.
Reflection
The learners loved working together and enjoyed the challenge of recalling the recipe and adding detail. They struggled with the style of writing and many found it hard to think of their audience as they wrote. This writing lesson had a lot of discuss which was great for oral language building but did detract from the length of student writing.
Thing to note:
I tried some more student focused camera angles in this lesson and I am not sure they work as well as I would have liked.
