Writing sight words. .mp4

Direct Instruction

The learning intentions for this lesson are we are learning to identify, read and write sight words and we are learning to talk about the picture in detail.

In this lesson learners are discussing the picture of a puffer fish, reading an effective paragraph and learn sight words. It draws on professional development from Dr Jannie Van Hees.

Reflection

I felt that the planning and thinking that went into this lesson help me to be more relaxed in my delivery of the content. I had not expected the children to be as excited as they were about the puffer fish and this lead to some good conversation. Given this conversation I let the lesson run on longer than I had planned. This was our first time doing this as a warm up to guided writing and I feel it went very well. I plan to continue doing this 3-4 times weekly and hope that time can be reduced without loosing excitement and engagement.

Thing to note

Please note that the blog posts reflect the writing in their books and their reflections.
