Episode 5 - Te Hokinga Mai ki te Kura.mp4

Direct Instruction / Te Akoranga

There weren't any clear learning intentions for this lesson. This was our first time returning to the classroom physically post Covid-19 Lockdown.

Kāore he aroanga mātua mō te taha ako o te whitiahua nei. Koinei te wā tuatahi kua noho tahi mātou ā-tinana mai nō muri i te noho tara tahi ki te kāinga.

This video shows a very open and honest discussion about our experiences during lockdown, what changes we saw and experienced, and how we felt about these things. It ends with a writing and drawing activity to do with what we discussed.

E whakaatu ana tēnei whitiahua i a mātou e whakawhiti whakaaro ana mō ā mātou wheako, ngā tinihanga me ngā kitenga, ōtira o mātou kare-ā-roto i roto i te noho taratahi ki te kāinga. Ko te mahi whakamutunga, he mahi tuhituhi e hāngai ana ki ngā kōrero i puta.

Reflection / Arotake

I should have had a lot more open ended questions, there is a lot of me talking and I'd much rather hear from the students than myself. The kids were engaging with the questions I was throwing at them but there were opportunities to roll with some of the conversations that were evolving from my original questions.

Things to note

This was our first ever lesson so the seating and the distancing is all new. This affected the sound in the video, I repeat myself or what the students are saying because of this. Some of the footage was edited out or seems a bit fun, that is because of disruptions from a reliever and other people stepping in to the footage.
